St. Thomas More Catholic School has been my professional home since 1997. Prior to this I was the daycare director at NIEHS and the EPA. I began my time in North Carolina being the Industrial Arts teacher at Culbreth Middle School here in Chapel Hill and then a 5th grade teacher at FPG. At this time, I was blessed a great opportunity to teach 5th grade at Immaculate Conception for 8 years in Durham North Carolina.
Both my daughters have attended St Thomas More Catholic School and are all grown up! I feel that the spirit of the Lord has blessed me with my calling as a Librarian ever since Sister Marie said, “You are perfect for this position!” I have a BS in both education (PK-9 th) and Health Sciences along with my MS in Library and Information Science. I am the state regional coordinator for independent schools in Battle of the Books, which in this program, students on the team and off the team learn about fabulous literature and those on the team compete statewide on their knowledge of the details of the books. My new adventure with the middle school students is Media Club instructor. Here we learn how a professional newscast is created and broadcasted from beginning with the idea to creating and developing the idea into a product (creation). In my down time, I love riding my Morgan horse, Jasmine, sailing (teaching on the inter banks), painting, and doing adventurous things with my family.
